The World Trade Center captured the imagination of New York and Barney captured it in his usual fashion-up close and personal.

Climbing 27 flights of steps to the then-top floor, he photographed the workmen hoisting the prefabricated steel lattice panels into position against the morning mist and views of a midtown landmark soon to be eclipsed, the Empire State Building. There are also dramatic shots of the completed Towers from the Globe Plaza.
