Who was Barney Stein? He was that spry little guy with the camera. What he lacked in stature he made up for in determination. Just slightly more than five feet tall, he climbed the mooring mast of the Empire State Building (no photos found to date) which earned him a membership in the "Top Nutters" group. Later in is career he scaled the Tower of the Triborough Bridge while it was under construction. He met a painter atop the structure who looked at him in bewilderment and asked him what he was doing, to which Barney remarked "It's my job." But photography was more than his job, it was his passion.
